3D Animation

My personal project: “Monkey Business.” I was responsible for character modelling, rigging, animation, cloth simulation, shot composition, lighting, rendering, writing, and voice over.

I find water, transparent materials, organic shapes, and caustic shadows to be visually mystifying. My goal was to capture those qualities in short renders.

Product render of the mirrored incense holder by “Natural Operation.” Utilizing modeling techniques, texturing, reflective materials, and transparency, I realized the client’s vision of reflecting foliage on the mirror while presenting the product on a black background.

Spec piece I created to demonstrate product rendering. Techniques include modeling, fluid simulation, texturing, UV mapping, lighting, and rendering.

Spec piece I created to demonstrate product rendering. Techniques include modeling, rigid body simulation, texturing, UV mapping, lighting, and rendering.

Short animation to promote the toy figure “Benny, the boy with good in his heart.” Benny was conceptualized by the brand “Erased Project.” I was given full creative control over this project and was responsible the rigging, animation, enviornment, lighting, FX, sound design, and rendering.

I was responsible for creating 3D mystery packs inspired by mockup images of the specified product . The “carousel” animation illustrates  the three options available for the  product. I sculpted the shapes of the product then used shader nodes to create the chrome packaging. I later UV mapped the centers of the packages to position 2D labels on to the surface. I then utilized compositing tools to produce the glare effect on the packages.

Grip tape product visualization for Mob Griptape. Techniques used include UV mapping, animation, lighting, and rendering.

What will you get in an Erased Project mystery box? You can’t be sure exactly but you know it will be exciting! I was responsbile for all aspects of this animation besides the 2D box art. I animated glowing sparkles and a glowing question mark, representing the excitment the customer will experience opening their Erased Project mystery box. The enviornment represents a city street, encompassing the ethos of Erased Project, a streetwear / skateboarding brand born in the heart of Los Angeles.

I find it important to try to create even when I don’t have an idea for a full animation flushed out. Oftentimes I’ll begin creating a character with no plan for its appearance or for any sort of animation, I just start modeling, I find my way as I go. For this project, I decided to create a dragon. From there, a knight seemed like a fitting addition.

I was responsible for most aspects of this animation besides the character model, bench model, and music. This short animation promotes Erased Project’s 5-year anniversary letterman jacket which I modeled and textured.
